RACHEL ILLINGWORTH

'BOTANICA'

November 15 - December 22, 2007

Opening Reception Thursday, November, 6-8 pm

The all-new body of work in Botanica was inspired by the Illingworth's daily walk through a large urban park

in downtown Seattle. The park is beautifully landscaped and skyscrapers make a dramatic background

for it. The monoprints in this exhibition embrace the bond between contemporary architecture and landscape,

each nurturing the other. Monoprint means original in that there are no two the same. The artist varies the

order of printing plates and the colors in each work of art. And she is known for her patience, precision, and vision,

sometimes running her prints through the press as many as sixteen times.

Rachel was raised & educated in Tasmania, Australia and has resided in Seattle since 1993. Her work

is in numerous public and private collections. This is the first solo exhibition in her career.
